Chenille Sweaters & The Importance of Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving Day is already 2 weeks away and for once I actually planned and prepped my look earlier than the day before. In all honesty, the only reason I really achieved planning it so early is because of all the traveling Kirby and I have these next few weeks. Oh, and I guess I'm a blogger 😉 My Thanksgiving Day look always needs to include these three things: comfort, stretch and a bit of Fall color.

Chenille sweaters are definitely one of the top pieces to own this season. I mean, have you felt how soft they are? It's basically like you're wrapped up in your favorite throw from home except you're out and looking cuter than ever. I'd call that a win for sure. After feeling how cozy the sweaters were I knew I needed to build my Thanksgiving Day look around it.

Call me crazy, but I'm not much of a leggings girl when it comes to my looks so wearing something super soft with my fave stretchy jeans (need room for pie) is the perfect alternative. I found this red chenille sweater from H&M and could not wait to put it on. It's the perfect Fall color, super comfortable and paired perfectly with my stretchy high waist Express jeans. I'll most likely put my pj's on shortly after dinner, but that's not the point 😉

As much as I am obviously a big fan of the turkey, the stuffing, the pie & wine (I love basically everything Thanksgiving)... I'm also a big fan of using November as a reminder for the importance of giving thanks. With busy weeks, never ending to-do lists and the constant negative pull of the world, somedays can be more difficult than others in finding what you're thankful for.

I'm constantly working on my relationship with God and have tried to speak as openly as I can about it because I know it's something that can be difficult yet not always talked about in a real way. In my previous post Happiness is a Mindset and How I Got To Actually Believing That I talk all about the importance of staying in his light and in my Worry Less, Do More post I talk about the importance of trusting the path. Whatever it is, it's always a constant focus to become closer to God.

I made a promise to myself that this year was going to be focused around being thankful for everything in my life; good or bad. On my bad days I actually sit and say, "Thank You" to him for whatever it is thats bringing me down. I can get how that seems weird, but in a lot of the situations I start giggling/crying at the same time because one, I feel silly for being in the mood I am after listing out my issues, and two, I can truly feel his presence most when I give thanks to him.

November is so cool for that reason. People gathering to give thanks for family & friends is amazing, but whats even more amazing is the giving of thanks for the not so big things. The things that normally get overlooked or forgotten. This month is the perfect month to get your mindset back to where it needs to be 🙂
