Nursery Reveal & Newborn Photoshoot

Welcome to Philomena Jean's Nursery

Looking at this room, it blows my mind it started as a gender neutral nursery. With a few little pops of lilac and florals, it couldn't fit my sweet girl any more perfectly. Even though I was sad to see my office go, this room was meant to be a nursery. It has the best lightening in the house, a little walk in closet fit for a baby and brings me so much joy. Each detail came together one after another which made this space a lot of fun to work on. With both kids rooms being the last of my renovations in the house (or at least I think so lol) I spent time on finding the perfect details for each space.

Fortunately, Addison transitioned to a big boy bed & is potty trained (outside sleeping) so I was able to move the crib, rocker & dresser/changing table right over. Since my office is no more, I decided to keep that rug in the space and layer it with a white jute rug to really make it pop. I also kept the office mirror in here to make the room feel larger + I can see us using it a ton once she's sitting up. With having so many of the large pieces already it made it a lot more fun to just focus on details & bringing the room together. As mentioned, this was a gender neutral room to start with so I kept the colors boho (just like I did for nursery #1 prior to Addison being born) and quickly brought in girly pops once SHE arrived.

The Details

Some of the pieces are from Homegoods or gifted to me, but I will like all that I can. Of course, I still envision getting a little headband/bow hanger for her closet soon, but for now the space is done! I like to keep things as organized as possible so included a few photos on how I do that as well. One thing I haven't purchased yet are blackout curtains & I'm still figuring out how I want to do that. She isn't sleeping overnight in here yet and only napping randomly so those are on my list too.

Wallpaper

A lot of the questions I receive are regarding the wallpaper! We got it from Minted (same as Addison's room!) and couldn't be happier with it. The wallpaper is removable and was fairly easy to apply. Little tip, recruit your MIL to help and save yourself an argument with your husband. We made it laughable & fun learning how to do it together. Our house is 100+ year old so it's not the most straight walls out there which honestly was the hardest part about the installation. We were able to install the nursery and Addison's room in one day - I call that a success! With the wallpapers coming remeasure, you will have to cut it accordingly which we didn't in the middle of placing it.

Crib Graphics

Your's truly created these super easily using Canva. Originally, I found the idea on Etsy, but knew I could make it myself. It was fun to customize the font too. Simply printed it at Office Depot and bought the framed from Target. Affordable & fills up the wall space.

Closet Organizer

I'm really happy I spent the extra $10 and bought the cube organizer from Target instead of Amazon. We have the cheaper one in Addison's room, and don't get me wrong it 100% works just fine, but the one in Philomena's room is bigger cube's and a bit sturdier. The baskets came in a pack of 4 & ship Prime! These work as a great way to store burp clothes, swaddles, random toys and hats, bibs, etc.

Name Sign

Typically I haven't been one to love name signs, but I couldn't help myself with how special her name is. Philomena Jean is named after both of her Great Grandma's - Philomena is Kirby's Grandma's name and Jean is my Grandma's middle name (and mine!). Surprisingly, I found this sign off Amazon and love it - especially for the price!

Flower Mobile

Just like Addison's nursery, my sweet little sister made Phiolomena her very own mobile. I went to my sister with an idea of what I wanted and she actually gave me something I could never find online. The flowers are wood and she dyed them herself to get them to be the lilac shade I wanted, strung them all through on fishing wire and then hand glued the glass beads in place. It truly finished off her room perfectly and when the sun hits the beads, it's so pretty!

Lamb Painting

Another special touch hand painted from Philomena's grandma (Kirby's mom). The first night we were in the hospital with Mena's head injury, Kirby's mom said this prayer over & over again -   "He gather's the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart". Displaying it in her room reminds us of how lucky we are to have a God that watches over us through everything and is always with my sweet girl.

Hanging Shelf

Homegoods find, but linked something similar. The little heart displayed on the bottom shelf is Philomena's umbilical cord! The owl was gifted to her from my Mom. Owls became a huge part of our family when we lost Kirby's sister 6 years ago. We had owls throughout Addison's nursery and I thought this was perfect on the shelf looking down over Mena's crib.

As you can see, this room is very special to us. It holds a lot of love for our little girl and I couldn't be happier with how it's all come together.

Nursery Organization

Closet Organizer

I'm really happy I spent the extra $10 and bought the cube organizer from Target instead of Amazon. We have the cheaper one in Addison's room, and don't get me wrong it 100% works just fine, but the one in Philomena's room is bigger cube's and a bit sturdier. The baskets came in a pack of 4 & ship Prime! These work as a great way to store burp clothes, swaddles, random toys and hats, bibs, etc.

Bookshelf

I loved the idea of storing all the books in an easy to grab spot for when Philomena is sitting up & crawling around. Although I love the idea of hanging bookshelf, my old house and plaster walls do not. This works perfectly and will be so fun to watch her grow with.

Changing Table & Pad

As mentioned above, we moved this from Addison's room. We bought it off Facebook marketplace & I just love the antique look to it. With it being a non-truadional changing table, the basic changing pads slide around a ton on it. We had that issue with Addison so spending the extra cash on the changing pad was worth it in my eyes. Plus, it's so easy to clean and requires no covers. It's only been used with her so I can't speak to a growing babe using it, but we have been loving it.

How I organize it: the bottom drawer has two separate baskets in it. One that's filled with basic white onesies & one that's filled with pants/leggings. The middle drawer has two baskets, both filled with diapers to make it easy to grab. The top two drawers are split between medicine, lotion, booty cream, nose sucker, etc. and socks + shoes.
