It may seem weird to be talking about Spring in the middle of January, but here in Denver it goes from 30 degrees to 60 degrees in 2 days! With that being said, mini skirts, pastel colors and Spring time are definitely on my mind. The start of this year has been such a whirlwind and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. I'm a lover of change (finally) and switching my closet over to transitional pieces for different seasons is definitely a favorite of mine. Skirts are a really simple piece to bring from season to season and I'm here to share my secrets on the best skirts to get you from Winter to Spring.
Faux Leather
When I found this fun embroidered faux leather skirt from H&M I knew instantly I would be able to make it work not only for the colder months, but also into the Summer. I think faux leather is so fun and super easy to either layer up with sweaters & boots or pair with sandals & cami's depending on what season you're in. The day we shot this in Denver it was 50 degrees and when I rocked it this weekend in Chicago it was 25 degrees, so I can definitely speak to both warm & cold weather. My tip is make sure the skirt has a liner (this one does) so it doesn't stick to you if it happens to be hot out. Faux leather is a great transitional piece and the extra added embroidery makes it even more perfect for Spring.
Muted Pastels
I have to be honest, pastels are a little difficult for me to wear sometimes because they can be so girly and feminine which isn't always my favorite look. When I found this muted pastel pleated chiffon skirt from H&M I feel in love! The muted blue color is perfect for any season and still gives off a very feminine & chic vibe. I sized up to so it wasn't as much of a mini skirt which definitely makes it the best skirt to get you from Winter and Spring.
If you didn't know already, purple is by far my absolute favorite color. So although I may not love pastels, I do love any shade of purple... Pastel included! I had so much fun adding these Misguided lilac double strap chunky heels to give even more of a Springy vibe to the look. Pastel on muted pastel made me feel so girly, but with the added crop black sweater it wasn't overkill for me. If you're anything like me and struggle with bright pastel colors, try out muted ones to make yourself ready for any season. Layers
I previously did a post on layering made easy and transitioning skirts from seasons fits right into that! I chose to layer both of these skirts with sweaters and my faux leather with OTK boots. If you don't own a pair of over the knee boots yet, I shared 2 reason why ever woman needs a pair here and bringing skirts through the seasons is now a 3rd reason. Pairing a fun mini skirt with a chunky sweater is definitely the most simple way to bring your favorite skirts through colder winter months and even Spring months as things start to warm up. If you're pairing it with a skirt for Spring I would wear cute sandals or heels, but through Winter definitely wear OTK boots or even tights to keep your legs warm.
