Happy New Year Babes!!
I'm entering 2016 like, whoooaaaa... New last name, new handsome husband, new adventures, new places to see and of course, new friends to meet 🙂 I LOVE the New Year, I feel like it brings a new sense of energy into my life and motivates me to do new things and become more like the person I truly want to be in life. I don't usually come up with a specific New Year's resolution each year, but this year my husband, Kirby, and I came up with one without even trying to. When we were discussing the new year and things we potentially wanted to do or accomplish we both started talking about 2016 as the 'Year of Doing'... The year of doing what makes you happy and the year of putting yourself into new situations & experiences. The year of living each day and each minute to the fullest while fitting in as many new adventures as possible. The year of making things happen without excuses. The year of loving life. 2016 is the year to make changes in our life for us and to enjoy every dang minute of it!! We are so excited to be married and SO excited to be entering the new year as one soul.
A new tradition my family has started is going somewhere new each year to celebrate New Year's Eve together. It's such a fun way to start the year and so cool being able to explore a new place while doing so:) Last year we decided to celebrate in beautiful Jamaica. It was such a neat experience being somewhere so tropical, especially with my big crazy family! This year we decided to head west out to one of the coolest cities I've ever been to; San Francisco. I literally wanted to move there the first day we arrived. The houses, the bay, the mountains... I'm.in.love. I already can't wait until my next trip back, which is hopefully this summer (hint, hint Kirby...), but seriously, there is so much to do and so many different places to see, San Francisco did not disappoint.
The first thing we did was head out to Alcatraz Prison, which is located right in the middle of San Francisco Bay, for an amazing tour of the prison that once housed the most brutal criminals of America. It was way cooler than I could have imagined and the audio tour was totally worth looking like an absolute nerd in headphones. There were also a ton of awesome views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge! Definitely happy we fit this into the trip 🙂 After the tour we got Irish Coffees at The Buena Vista, which is right off the bay. Holy cow. I could have had about 10 of those (and then be extremely drunk), so I stopped at 2. So delicious! || My look that day was leather pants with a black asymmetrical top, a plaid blanket scarf, purple/leopard New Balance shoes, a black BB Dakota jacket (similar) and a Victoria's Secret black fringe backpack (similar). I obviously rocked my favorite Rayban sunnies as well!
New Year's Eve was started at a delicious Italian restaurant and was finished bar hopping down Polk Street in downtown San Francisco. Such a cool city with still so many unexplored territories (I NEED to go back!!).|| My look that night was a plum sparkly Free People dress with striped black Jessica Simpson tights (similar), a white faux fur coat (similar) and my fave grey Chinese Laundry wedge booties.
New Year's Day we took a limo... yes, a limo, all the way through the mountains outside of San Francisco to the big Redwood Forest (that sounds like a storybook). It was such a fun way to start the New Year. The forest was absolutely beautiful and totally blew my mind with how massive the trees were! It was hilarious "hiking" it out with the entire family and definitely really funny pulling up in a limo. I mean... I could never imagine having my New Year start any other way 😉 haha. || My look that day was distressed skinny jeans, my favorite Steve Madden boots (which I do not recommend wearing here), a basic white Free People tee, a dark brown leather jacket and a bright red plaid scarf. I got both my sisters plaid things for Christmas, so we decided to all wear plaid that day 🙂 *We finished the night off exploring China Town!
One of my favorite days of the whole trip was of course, wine country!!! Sonoma to be exact 🙂 We got picked up early by a mini bus and driven all the way out to Sonoma, where we went from winery to winery tasting the many different amazing wines each offered. It was an experience I'll never forget, but hopefully can do some other time in my life because it seriously was amazing. The scenery is beautiful and the wine is delicious! Definitely a must do. || My look that day was a black lace 3/4 sleeved mini dress with grey suede over the knee boots and a maroon floppy hat (similar).
I hope all of you have enjoyed your New Year's as much as I have, and I hope all of you continue to strive to be the best you there is!! And of course we started 2016 with the best fast food EVER... In-N-Out Burger 🙂 #failedresolution
