What To Wear To A Winter Wedding

It’s crazy to think we are weeks away from being smack dab in the middle of winter. I’m pretty spoiled living in Colorado because our winters are nothing like what I grew up with in the Midwest. Cloudy, snowy and temperatures below freezing are all normal things for 5-7 months out of the year which surprisingly, a lot of people enjoy. Although it’s freezing and super gloomy weather the snowy days can be some of the most beautiful. I love the moments after a fresh snowfall especially because the ground is completely untouched and sparkles away.

Since winter lasts so long, a lot of weddings fall into the chilly months and dressing cute for a wedding in 0 degree temperatures is way more difficult then in Summer and Spring. With having the blessing of standing up in my best friends wedding in Minneapolis, MN in November, I wanted to share with you babes how I'm planning on beating the cold temps in the perfect winter wedding look.

Now, obviously I don't have much say in the wedding day attire, but I recently just bought my rehearsal dinner dress and plan on layering it up so I don't freeze my tush off. To be totally honest, that's not always my mindset on things. I'm your typical blogger girl who will choose to be cold in order to keep a cute look on. Sorry not sorry, it's just who I am, but I have found many ways as I've hit my later 20's (and grown somewhat of a more adult brain) that can make it possible to do it more often than not.

I found this super cute lilac dress on sale at ASOS for $25 a couple weeks ago and knew instantly that I wanted to wear it for the rehearsal dinner. The fabric is extremely comfortable, the open back gives it a little bit of sexy and the midi length is perfect for helping keep my legs warm; Oh, and its lilac which just so happens to be my favorite shade of purple.

Now, what to layer it with? My go to as you guys know is always a leather jacket. I think it helps dress any look up and brings a fun edgy vibe to it. I also think pairing the black color over the lilac makes it much more wintery which is why I decided to pair it with my cute sock booties to keep my feet warm. Wallah, I just created a winter wedding look by adding a couple extra pieces to a somewhat Spring like dress. If you're lost on what boots to wear for layering up one of your Spring dresses make sure to check out my 5 Must Have Fall Shoe Trends post where I pulled my favorite trends and styles for you to shop.

If you need more then just a faux leather coat and booties, I've found that tights, shawls, fur jackets, tall boots and layering slip dresses over long sleeves tops are some of the most simple ways to bring you summer dresses into Fall & Winter months. Socks with heels are really fun, but not appropriate for a winter wedding look. I also think bringing darker tones into your bright or pastel dresses can be an easy way to rock it without looking like you're dressed for Summer. I linked my look below as well as some of my favorite dresses, jackets, boots and accessories to help plan your look for any upcoming Winter weddings!
